Singapore is a little country city state south of the malaysia peninsula, very much a cosmopolitan modern urban city. It's attractiveness lies in its unique blend of population chinese, malay, indians and various other ethnic groups that forms the poplulation in Singapore. This brings about areas such as chinatown, little india, malay village and a general shopping belt in orchard road and marina square.

English, mandarin is spoken widely in Singapore. This includes cab drivers and transport operators. Hence, for an English native speaker, you would find little problem communicating while touring Singapore.

The cheapest way to get around in Singapore is on the MRT (subway) and buses. With the MRT linked all the way from the Singapore Airport.

Take a look at Andrew's travel photoblog and snapshot of downtown singapore for little on-line tour.
