Kusadasi is a small city of about 50,000 on the west coast of Turkey. It lies on the Aegean Sea, north of the ancient city of Ephesus, and south of Izmir. Although the population isn't much, during the summer there are many more people when you include tourists and others heading to the coast. In recent years however, it is getting to be a more popular destination, partly for its beaches, and also as a cruise ship terminal.

In addition to its location on the water, there is a national park nearby, and the area boasts over 300 sunny days a year.

In the city you can still see ancient ruins of a fortress and its gates. Also, on Pigeon Island which is just off the coast, there are ruins of a Byzantine castle. And if you wish to skip the sights, you can just do some shopping at the local Bazar.
